Our Chief People Officer, Mary Alice Vuicic, just shared her thoughts on the importance of connection in honor of mental health month. Read now:
September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation for all Canadians to honor the resilience, dignity and strength of survivors and intergenerational survivors of the residential school system and remember the children who never came home. Orange Shirt Day initiated, and continues to allow for, conversations about residential schools on an international scale, and allows for meaningful discussions of the impacts of residential schools. On September 28th in our Toronto office, the Indigenous Peoples Network and Women at Thomson Reuters business resource groups got together to host a book club on Five Little Indians by Michelle Good.
At Thomson Reuters, we have a legacy of empowering generations of women pursuing technology and computing professions. We’re proud to sponsor the Grace Hopper Celebration – the world’s largest gathering of women and non-binary technologists – and we’re happy to send 50 of our women and non-binary technologists and their allies #WorkingAtTR to the conference. We are also honored to be one of fourteen companies named a leader of AnitaB.org’s Top Companies for Women Technologists, a program that recognizes companies building workplaces where women can thrive. The program analyzes gender and racial data of the technical representation, as well as organizational programs and policies tied to structural equity. AnitaB.org shares benchmarked data and insights with participating companies so they can continue to build more equitable and inclusive workplaces.
"I have been working at Thomson Reuters for the past two years, where I serve as the Social Media Manager for FindLaw Consumer, Abogado.com, and LawInfo.com. I identify as Mexican American, as my family is from Puebla, Mexico and I was born in California. Hispanic Heritage Month allows me to celebrate and appreciate my culture even more. I try to take this time to really dive into the history behind Mexico and what makes it the country that it is today. I've developed a deep curiosity about my ancestors and their contributions to Mexico's heritage, specifically the invaluable contributions of indigenous cultures. It also encourages me to embrace and appreciate the Hispanic culture more. I became a member of the Latino Employee Network to build professional connections with individuals who share my background and heritage. I value the opportunity to connect with other Latinos and those who are eager to learn more about our culture. Recently, thanks to the Latino Employee Network, I was able to attend the ReVisión: Art in the Americas exhibit. This experience was truly unique and allowed me to learn about the art and history of Mexico, as well as other Latin American countries. I am grateful for the support and opportunities provided by this group." Sofia, Social Media Manager, Eagan

A few weeks ago, our Toronto-based teammates united for a meaningful cause as they took part in the Princess Margaret Walk to Conquer Cancer. Mary Alice Vuicic, our Chief People Officer, reflected on this remarkable experience. "On Saturday, I joined my colleagues for a 21km walk through the streets of Toronto to raise funds for the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, a global leader in innovative cancer research and care. This was our second Walk to Conquer Cancer and the second year with Pragashini Fox as our team captain. Thank you to Thomson Reuters for generously matching our funds and supporting the groundbreaking work at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Walking side by side with my team members was not just exhilarating but deeply uplifting."

“In early August, my wife and I welcomed our son Tate - more than three weeks ahead of schedule!
