It has been an amazing month at Twilio celebrating, honoring, and learning about #AAPI culture and contributions. As the month comes to an end, our employees share why they are proud to be a part of the #AAPI community. #YouBelongAtTwilio
We’re half way through Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and we’ve seen and heard some inspiring cultural stories from the community. Unfortunately, we’ve also seen a spike in Anti Asian rhetoric. Read our new blog to learn how Twilio and Hollaback! joined forces to provide bystander training to #StopAntiAsianHate. #YouBelongAtTwilio #AAPIHeritageMonth
It only takes one person’s vision to make a difference in the communities around them. For #AAPIHeritagemonth, we are celebrating Aaron Lim, Marketing Analytics Manager. Aaron embarked on a journey one year ago this month to support his favorite San Francisco Chinatown restaurants struggling at the beginning of the pandemic. He personally delivered take-out orders to family and friends across the Bay Area that grew to a team of 20 volunteers (including a number of Twilions) by the end of May ’20. Over the span of 2.5 months, the team delivered over 1600 orders. He also started a fundraiser that raised more than $26,000 for the Chinatown Community Development Center. Aaron didn’t stop there; he also encouraged Twilions to match their donations using WePledge 1% benefits and raised an additional $6,500 for the organization. Since then, Aaron has joined the Board of Directors for the Chinatown Community Development Center and looks forward to serving the community in a greater capacity.
This week, Twilio hosted an amazing Fireside Chat to discuss Antiracism and Asian American Allyship in NYC. Scott Bonnell, NYC hub leader & Shino Tanikawa, racial justice activist focused on the New York City public school system, discussed various topics including the Asian model minority myth, microaggressions, diversity in the NYC Public School system, the upcoming NYC mayor race, and how we can all be better allies. “Stories and conversations about race and racism are a good first step in stopping AAPI hate and dismantling racism. Let’s create more spaces for honest, frank, and brave conversations!” Shino Tanikawa. #AAPIHeritageMonth #WeBuildAtTwilio #AntiRacism
This month for Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the U.S, Twilio is being intentional about embracing and learning from their lived experiences and stories through a host of events and activations. In the wake of anti-Asian hate crimes and violence, now, more than ever, it is important to stand in solidarity with the Asian American & Pacific Islander community. Stay tuned for an inside look and to learn more.

Reflecting on #BlackHistoryMonth as we celebrated the beauty of the Black family. Check out the unique stories from Black Twilions on how being raised in a Black family helped inspire, shape, and influence their lives and careers. #Blackfamily
At Twilio, we believe #BlackLivesMatter. We hold that statement true as we commit to becoming an anti-racist company. Part of honoring Black lives is both addressing the inequities that the Black community faces and working to dismantle systematically racist systems that they endure on a daily basis. We actively utilize our product, our people, and our resources to support that systemic change. Simultaneously, we find it essential to uplift the voices, stories, and history (past, present, and future) of Black people. That’s why we are excited to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth once again. This year’s #BlackHistoryMonth theme is the Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity. We have quite a bit in store as we recognize this month, and we encourage you to follow @WeBuildAtTwilio for a more insightful look at how we are uplifting the beauty of the Black family and honoring black culture here at Twilio.
