"I am lucky to be part of a company and a team that truly makes me feel valued for my contributions and ideas. Before I joined the team, I was very impressed by the commitments to D&I that Twilio spoke about. Now, I have greater respect for how leaders are always ready to listen, learn and make their best efforts to get better. I have seen many companies that treat Diversity and Inclusion as a marketing exercise. However, I can honestly say that at Twilio, the commitment to creating a feeling of belonging is part of the very fabric of this company."Nathaniel Okenwa, Developer Evangelist based in London.

Twilio's Early In Career team hosted the Twilio experience: from HBCU to Software Engineer. The event was strictly for HBCU students where Tiwong Nace Jr, Morehouse student and 2020 Software Engineer intern and Ben Stephens, Software Engineer at Twilio-Hatch Alumni and Black ERG lead shared their personal experience as Black Twilions and provided tips on ways to be successful when transitioning from an HBCU to a Software Engineering role. Giovanni Bonadie, EIC program coordinator and Andrew EIC Programs Lead at Twilio helped navigate the conversation and played a fun game to help participants learn more about Twilio. Thanks to all that joined. Twilio is committed to increasing its representation of Black and LatinX talent across all levels. This year we have doubled our HBCU and HSI efforts to build engagement with underrepresented communities. "I think it is such an exciting time to be at Twilio. It is great to be a part of company that is growing at scale and also redefining what it means to lead, empower & inspire a diverse workforce. I never expected my experience at Twilio to be what it has been and it has been a great work environment to be in. Moreover, being able to witness the authenticity & investment that senior leadership has put into driving Twilio D&I efforts has been great to see. Senior leadership both in the US & EMEA has shown an increasing propensity to listen, learn and make their best efforts to level up Twilio, thereby improving the great culture that we are fortunate to have. Lastly, it has been great to be a part of the ERG-Black Twilions. It is always so active, informative and has really driven what it means to feel a sense of belonging despite being across the pond, which is cornerstone & essence of the countless things that make Twilio special."Frank Yaw-Owusu, Ecosystem Developer, EMEA, Twilio Startups
