Penguin Workshop, iHeartMedia, and Radio Point will release The Who Was? Podcast, a new kids’ comedy quiz show, from the team that produced the Emmy Award-winning Netflix series, The Who Was? Show and based on the #1 New York Times-bestselling Who Was? children’s history and biography series from Penguin Workshop, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers. The first series, consisting of 45 weekly 30-minute episodes, premiers on March 16, 2022. Listeners can hear the official show trailer on iHeartRadio and everywhere podcasts are heard.

So, what does the podcast landscape look like in 2022? This week, iHeartMedia's Digital Audio Group CEO, Conal Byrne, gave Forbes four podcast predictions for 2022.
KICKING OFF WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH: Avril Lavigne, Maren Morris, Alicia Keys and other artists will appear in “iHeartRadio's SeeHer Hear Her: Celebrating Women Who Make Music and Culture,” a celebration on the radio network taking place on International Women’s Day on March 8. The event will highlight successful and influential artists in music during a live one-hour special that will stream on iHeartRadio’s YouTube and Facebook pages on March 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
LAUNCHING TODAY: Radio just became more interactive! iHeartRadio, today, is launching a new feature called "Talk Back" which allows listeners to participate with their favorite shows directly from the iHeartRadio mobile app. With a push of a button, listeners can offer feedback or respond to hosts’ questions by recording a 30-second voice message. The voice recordings are available to use, live on air, within about 10 seconds after sending.
HeartRadio Living Black! Empowered By AT&T is back for the second year, celebrating Black History Month in a major way. The month-long event, empowered by AT&T, will be headlined by Lizzo, who will celebrate with a special performance at the iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles. This year's celebration will also feature performances by Big Sean, H.E.R., Moneybagg Yo and Ari Lennox. Stars like J. Cole, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Saweetie and Bas are all scheduled to make special appearances. Throughout the month of February, iHeartRadio will shine a spotlight on the power and impact of Black culture, celebrating the past, present and future of the culture through conversations and tributes that will educate and inspire. Artists, influencers and thought leaders will create a series of original audio content that will honor Black History Month's impact. The special event will mark the first time ever that TikTok and iHeartMedia collaborate. Living Black! will broadcast live on TikTok and across iHeartMedia’s various Hip-Hop/R&B radio stations and the iHeartRadio app on February 23.
NEW PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT: iHeartMedia has partnered with intelligence company Sounder to make their brand safety rating tool available to advertisers looking to buy audio ads across the iHeartPodcast Network. “The next clear tool that this media needs is the brand safety tools that we are used to in other digital media,” says iHeartMedia Digital Audio Group’s chief executive officer, Conal Byrne.

Podcast Downloads Topped 400 Million Last Month As iHeart Holds No. 1 In Podtrac’s Monthly Rankings. "iHeartRadio remained at the top with more than 422 million downloads in January. It was the first time iHeart crossed the 400 million download mark...Podtrac says iHeart’s U.S. monthly unique audience was more than 30 million. It marked 16 consecutive months that it has led the ranking of publishers measured by Podtrac."
