None for contracted employees. Not so different from other benefits for this type of employee.

If you work for Amazon in California, the benefits are different. If you go on short-term disability, you get paid by California State disability insurance. But, if your salary is high enough that you hit the CA cap, then Amazon chips in to bring the total (CA + Amazon) to 60% of salary.
Once you contact Amazon Accommodations (which is outsourced, so you aren't speaking to Amazon employees), it is essentially out of your managers hands. If Accomodations approves your leave, your manager can't block it.
At least this was true for me as an SDE III.

It’s a joke and takes over a month to pay an when it does it’s equal to working one day every two weeks

I heard that Supplemental Life Insurance is compatible to other big IT company in bay area. It shouldn't be a big problem.

The comprehensive life insurance/AD&D plans also cover sudden disability. I could be wrong, but I strongly believe that disability insurance is covered in the comprehensive part time associate plan.
