The bonuses are terrible (in general). The problem with the bonus is that Amex puts all employees into a forced curve ranking. So this means that you could have 3 superstars and 3 average performers and many top performers are not properly compensated. Amex has a 'balanced scorecard' in general - so even understanding what 'top performance' is = very difficult. At the end of the day, your bonus is based on how many people like you and 'vote' for you during Calibration = not really on anything else. Thats right. Compensation turns out to be a popularity vote.
