I got paid out for a bonus after I left. I thought they made a payroll mistake but it turned out that I was in fact paid a bonus after I quit.

Only available for permanent employees to allow them to be compensated for over achievement.

We always were told up front what to expect, so that is good. In terms of the actual $$ it is So so, it was always clear there is or there is no bonus.

You don't give achievement awards to the slackers for, once in a while, doing their damned jobs.

key performance indicators are not clearly spelt out and there is not a formal process or clarity around how an employee is measured. as a result, feedback is not actionable and without details on how to address deficiencies. Seems very subjective.

If you are full time employee, you may receive performance bonus based on your salary, "target percentage" associated with your position, your as well as company performance. Cisco splits bonus in 2 pay-outs per calendar year: in March and September.

Bonus is same formula for everyone comprised of 3 things. 1) % of salary based on Job Grade, ranging from 10-20% 2) Company performance multiplier. 3)Individual performance multiplier, which is the ONLY portion based on manager discresion. In my opinion the Cisco bonus program is very generous overall, and serves to reward and thank employees for their hard work. (note I am a mid-grade non executive quite pleased with the benefit!)
