The health plan covers all soldiers and dependent needs. The dental program only covers the soldier but there are drastically reduced rates for dependents needs.

Overall, health care in the active Army is excellent. Completely free, reasonably timely, and of sufficient quality most of the time. Unfortunately, when you are not happy with your or your family's health care you have no options.

There are no premiums or co-pays for health care for either you or your family. Care for my wife, who has Stage IV cancer, has been excellent in my opinion. Dental care is free for the service member, but is provided through an inexpensive dental plan for family members

Sometimes providers do not want to take Tricare because they do not make as much money from Tricare as they do other insurance companies.
