Bottomline Project Manager interview questions

I was contacted via a recruitment agency who gave me a case study. I was given 24 hours for answering the case study which I did successfully. The interview was scheduled in the same week. It was an interview with functional questions as advertised role was a functional role. It went well although some of the questions were basic, far fetched and didn't come as clear or well thought of. The feedback was good and then after few days on contacting them for update I got to know I wasn't technical enough for the position. Wonder why it took them so many days to arrive at the conclusion that I'm not technical enough for a functional role where no technical questions were even asked in the interview. Perhaps due to the fact that they are startup who makes people work throughout week for 12+ hours at a low salary as I can gauge from the interview.
