Received an email invitation from hiring manager but didn't hear from her until the following week. I know emails do happen to end up in spam folder, but how can you send an invite and don't follow for a response?! Approached the receptionist upon arriving and felt ignored and unacknowledged--just asked me to sign in--maybe she was having a bad day--I don't know. After sitting there watching her swap spot with her coworker, she finally had walked right next door to the hiring manager's office to personally notify her of my arrival. Let me emphasis, the whole time I was waiting the hiring manager's office was ADJACENT from the receptionist's desk. The hiring manager asked me a few questions about my work history to get the conversation going but absolutely can tell from the start she was uninterested. Long story short, I felt unimportant from beginning to start. Be prepared to feel unwelcome, especially if your young because workers in their middle age and up work there. Inside work space is casual with cubical offices, except for the hiring manager's office. Receptionist desk is isolated in the corner.
