The interview process seems fake and phony from the outset. I applied online and the recruiter got back to me in a few days with a phone screen (this was in late October 2020). Then I didn't hear back for several weeks and then I decided to follow up with the recruiter on my application. She reached out and set up a 1-hour video interview with the hiring manager. This went well and I was given a take-home assignment which has a disclaimer and potential red flag which read "this exercise is entirely voluntary, that once submitted, this material becomes the sole property of Internet Brands and we may use it for any purpose and in any form". After the take home assignment, I didn't receive any reviews or feedback on the material I submitted, instead I was quickly advanced to an onsite interview with 3 people and during this session, there was no discussion of the take-home assignment. I didn't get any feedback after this round as well and was moved on to a final round interview with the VP of Engineering and CPO.
My overall take is that the process is not legitimate and they are seeking out candidates to solicit ideas and inspiration for their uninspiring web products and services. The frustrating thing about this experience is that they wasted my time for a period too long that I wished that I had never applied in the first place.
