I was looking to leave my previous employment in the network security space, and came across a position posted on the NetSuite careers page that seemed like a perfect match for what I was looking for. I reached out to a friend who works at NetSuite (in a different department), and was encouraged to submit my resume online. I put my friend as a reference. Within 1 day I was contacted for a phone interview, and within 1 week I had interviewed with 3 people in the Marketing department. I got an offer that exceeded my expectations less than 3 weeks later.
I was very excited to join NetSuite after meeting the team, as I got the impression that this was a dynamic tech company that encouraged out-of-the-box ideas. They didn't seem to bother with micromanagement and bureaucracy, but instead trusted each individual as a professional and valued their input and contribution.
My advice to anyone in the interview process is: while people here are friendly, they take business very seriously so come prepared and know your stuff. Experience and education is important, but personality is too--being part of the team and fitting in with the culture goes a long way.
