I applied online and received a call back from a recruiter a few days later. The initial phone call with the recruiter was brief and to the point; Maybe no longer than 20 minutes. She let me know there will be 2 more interviews after this and I was delighted to know it wouldn't be a dragging 7-8 interview process.
First was with the hiring manager. The hiring manager seemed either really laid back or doesn't care who joins her team because the interview was very easy and very light... lasted maybe 30 minutes max, but with A LOT of me asking her questions to fill in the last 15 minutes of our booked time frame.
"Second" interview with the most vague case study I've ever been requested to make. Maybe I misunderstood the recruiter when she said "2 more interviews" because I was expecting maybe a panel of 2-4 people? or mayyyybe I'm lucky and I get 1 person, quick 1 hour case study presentation? But NOPE. The recruiter sent me the interview schedule and it was a grueling 5 hour virtual interview with 6 different people. I got small breaks (and a 45 min lunch break of which Toast paid for) but WOW seriously misleading. "2 more interviews" ended up with interviewing with 5+ more people.
Nonetheless, the interviews weren't all too bad and I was able to finish it feeling pretty good...
Until I got a call from them 3 days later telling me I wasn't a good fit?... and maybe instead I'm a better fit for another role they had opened? Of which also (long story short) didn't work out because I was ghosted.
My good gracious, what a waste of time.

Tell me about a time you had to deliver difficult news to a client
Thank you for spending the time to interview with Toast. I'm sorry to hear the process was not more clearly laid out throughout the interview process. We know how much effort goes into interviewing, and how important it is to set proper expectations. I'm also very disappointed to hear that you didn't receive adequate feedback or follow up. This is certainly not the candidate experience we strive for. Please feel free to reach out to me directly on LinkedIn if you would like to discuss further. - Sasha Yershov, Recruiting Manager
