I applied for this position through their website. I almost forgot about it then I got a phone call asking if I can come to TxDoT for an interview. I acknowledge that they are a government agency but this is the first time I've experienced an interview like that. A woman gave a sheet of paper with 10 questions and asked me to take a look at them and jot down the answer. She left the room and came back 10 minutes later with the hiring manager. After the hiring manager introduced himself and TxDoT, he told me about the benefit package when working at a government agency. He said that they couldn't compete with other private companies in terms of salary, so they offer more benefits instead. Then he asked those 10 questions. They just focused on their paper and wrote down what I said, never gave me a chance to have more interactions with them. The interview finished once I completed answering 10 questions and they said they would have some more interviews and they'd grade candidates' answers and make decision. I feel that's ridiculous. 2 weeks later, when I've already landed a job, they called and said that the position was closed since they have too few applications. Even if they wanted to continue with my application, I'd never want to work there.
