Initial call with recruiting was smooth an to the point. Second interview a week later with the Latam “manager”. This is where the interview process quality started to decline. The hiring manager seemed to be a little intimated of interviewing someone with passion and grit. I could notice this by his choice of words and lack of communication during and afterwards. One question was “how would you overcome being in a competitive situation”, so I went ahead and replied with what works for me and has helped me being successful, he then gave me feedback and when I asked him how he would do it instead (so I could learn a different approach) he couldn’t put together a reply or give me an example. After all of this he stated he would like me to do a panel interview with his team the following week.
Two months, few emails and LinkedIn messages later I finally got a response from the recruiter. This seems to be a great company with a great product and I’m pretty sure great people as well, but I believe I dodge a bullet due to the hiring manager. Ultimately, I would not want to work for a weak leader and who also doesn’t care about people’s experiences.
