The TRUTH about Best Western's Headquarters

Pros

Beats the unemployment line - but just barely

Cons

Employees are treated like garbage - its true. The CEO and HR seem to pride themselves on cutting costs at the employees expense, creating poor morale, and daring anyone to speak up about it. Fact - in the three years I've been with BW I have made less money every year due to benefits being cut, health premiums going way up, and a yearly "raise" that equates to less than CPI. It's true what has been said in a previous review that the executive enjoy a Cadillac health plan while continuing to screw their employees on benefits. Their excuse is Obamacare as if we're too stupid to understand the law or its implications. SHAME ON BEST WESTERN. Fact - any 5 star review on this site has been put their by BWs HR staff. If you are truly interested in considering BW as a place to work I strongly suggest you reach out to a current or former employee for the truth.

Pros

They provide free coffee and snacks and give out the occasional gift cards. The discounts on travel aren't as high as other companies because they don't own the hotels, but you can still get them. A good number of the people you work with are friendly and you will form good friendships. They give you two monitors at your desk which is very nice.

Cons

The benefits are some of the worst in the business. Health insurance is very expensive with a high deductable. The pay is LOW LOW LOW if you are an hourly employee. You do not earn any time off until after 6 months of full time employment. Like many of the other reviews on here agree - you are not promoted unless you know someone. I have seen people promoted to positions they didn't deserve because they were friends with the manager - the positions were not even posted as open and an internal employee was told "no" they couldn't apply for one of them. If by chance you do get a promotion - anything over a 7% increase has to be approved by the CEO which no one will do. So you will make a lot less than someone they hire off the street. There are way too many directors and they treat hourly employees like they are not even worthy of being here. Two hourly assistants were completely degraded by a director out in the middle of the floor.
