Pros

Flexible work schedules, senior engineers are willing to train, opportunities to grow within the company

Cons

Extremely low pay that does not keep up with inflation. I know there was a survey taken with results that said "people were satisfied with their salary", but it's important to note that very few people even take these surveys...and this was done in the middle of the pandemic when people were afraid to even lose their jobs... benefits are half decent/not the best. Bonuses are insulting compared to other firms. Don't come to work here if you want to have a decent salary and bonus.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I'm glad to hear you see the growth and mentorship opportunities here at Consor and our work schedule flexibility! With over 81% of employees completing our most recent anonymous employee survey and 70% completing the previous survey, we do look toward those results to guide us with feedback for focused actions. Still, our compensation monitoring extends significantly beyond our annual employee surveys. While we're happy to see we're significantly above benchmarks in team member satisfaction with overall compensation, we don’t rest on those results. We regularly benchmark our program with like-sized firms in our industry and markets. In 2022 the market shifted rapidly, and we took intermediate steps to adjust compensation mid-year in areas where the shifts were more significant than anticipated. In addition, we’ve implemented tools allowing us to monitor and forecast market trends with real-time data, and we continue to review our program comprehensively and adjust. Base salary is just one component of our comprehensive package, which includes a broad group benefits program, 401K match, spot and annual bonuses, financial contributions towards team member professional development, and extensive paid time off. Lastly, we recently hired a compensation analyst whose role is devoted to this work across the firm, so rest assured, assessing employee pay, staying in tune with our markets, and adjusting are top priorities. As Chief People Officer, my door is always open if you have additional questions about salary and pay adjustments.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. In times of transition, misinformation can spread inadvertently, and it seems this may be one of those cases. It’s always our goal to effectively filter communications among our teams. We try hard, but it’s not always perfect, and it seems we missed the boat here! While the details of separations are generally private, I can relay that there have been no engineering or design team member layoffs at Consor since the earlier days of Covid, and we were fortunate to limit that difficult need to one market. Quite the opposite, our thoughtful geographic expansion and winning project delivery and marketing teams have opened additional opportunities across the country, and we are actively hiring engineering team members in our design markets across the country. We have also expanded our workshare model, opening opportunities for our design teams to support a wider variety of projects across the country, broadening their project experience and expanding their career opportunities beyond where they reside. I’m glad to read that you’ve enjoyed our hybrid work model (we love the flexibility it provides!) and agree that our marketing teams are top-notch! As the Chief People Officer, I speak for myself and the entire executive leadership team — our door is always open to you. I would love to have an open conversation to better understand your concerns and to get your input on active steps to improve communications. Please reach out to me at mshimanek@consoreng.com.

Company culture declining

Pros

Team solid, good people to work with. Direct supervisor listens and advocates for team decently well. Often work with great teams that are passionate about our clients and our work. Flexibility in my day-to-day schedule. Strong support on my team for work-life balance and finding time to decompress. Company resource groups encourage diversity, inclusion, professional development, and initiative and advocacy

Cons

Private equity overlords have made it clear that talent retention and company culture are not a priority. Many of our strongest team members were let go or have left. Benefits are shrinking. Some teams remain understaffed and apparently new employees are not in the budget. Initiatives have been massively scaled back or cut, but numbers in spreadsheet must still go up. Morale is notably muted.

We understand that morale and trust are influenced by how change is experienced, and these remain important considerations in our ongoing review of employee offerings and organizational decisions.
