Pros

Good benefits and diversity initiative at the time.

Cons

The company lied about what the job was. A "community building local representative" for their brick and mortar stores ended up just being a cold calling job and taking incoming calls for other stores. No room to move up. The management was the worst I ever worked for. Weird rules where they signed the lease, including someone having to stay in the store in inclement dangerous weather. Most of the "old school" employees I came into contact with drank the Kool Aid in a weird way that left no room for criticism. I left in 2022 and have been watching the rating here fall for all the years since. Could have been a great company but I wouldn't ever give them my energy now, as an employee or customer.

Thank you for reflecting on your time with us and sharing your honest feedback. We are pleased to know that our benefits and commitment to diversity initiatives were positive elements of your experience. We are truly sorry to hear about your frustration regarding the daily responsibilities of your role, our historical store safety guidelines, and the management culture you experienced. Providing transparent expectations and ensuring a safe, respectful environment for our team members are core priorities, and we regret that your experience did not reflect this. Although you transitioned away from the company in 2022, your insights are valuable as we look back at our operational history and work to strengthen our organization moving forward. Thank you for your past contributions to the team, and we wish you continued success in your professional journey.

Pros

Good people, not including management. A lot of training.

Cons

Bad management, childish favoritism, inability to pick a direction and stick with it, the list goes on. The biggest con was the absolute hypocrisy when it came to company ethics. I've never seen a company blow so much smoke about how to treat people and then do the exact opposite. There was also no clear path up in this role without relocating. Which I'm glad I didn't do, as custom ink relocated a bunch of production employees and then fired them too. Right before outsourcing art overseas, despite having an excellent art team.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear that your time at Custom Ink didn’t reflect the values we aim to uphold, especially around fairness, leadership, and how we treat one another. That’s difficult to read, and we take feedback like this seriously. It’s encouraging to know you had positive interactions with teammates and found value in our training programs—we believe strongly in the importance of learning and connection, and we’re grateful you experienced that during your time with us. We appreciate the honesty in your review and are always working to learn from experiences like yours. If you’re open to continuing the conversation privately, we’d welcome the chance to hear more. You can reach us at inkerfeedback@customink.com.

Pros

Working at Custom Ink is a rewarding experience as the company is invested in both personal and professional development. Diversity & Belonging initiatives are ever-evolving and fostering an environment where all feel warm and welcome in the inker community. There are also opportunities to lead or engage in IDC's (Inker Diversity Councils), Inkternships, LINKers, and other great programs designed to help inkers cater to interests outside of their specific role. Team members (inkers) enjoy a variety of perks, including working remotely, excellent benefits, and flexible schedules. Custom Ink values work-life balance, offering 25 days of paid time off per year in addition to annual holidays, ensuring that inkers have ample opportunity to recharge and pursue their passions outside of work.

Cons

One of the notable challenges at Custom Ink has been the aftermath of massive layoffs, which have resulted in an increased workload for remaining inkers. This situation has also made it challenging to explore interdepartmental opportunities, as such positions don't open up frequently. Leaders are committed, however, to professional development and helping their team members develop skills and knowledge applicable to interests.
