Pros
Great, smart co-workers. Challenging work.
Cons
Where do I start? I loved working the last 5 years at Cigna. I am great at my job. And felt connected to my colleagues and our mission. Then suddenly, Cigna stopped caring about the employee experience. All the feedback surveys that were something we regularly talked about & were a point of pride stopped coming for us to fill out. Then they rolled out “Future of Work.” They could have been smart about finding balance with in-person work. (There are a few companies getting it right with in-person collaboration.) They could have simply asked people who were in the office prior to COVID to return. But instead, they chose a shocking, sweeping change to their remote work policy, and they started requiring people who have worked from home for 5-10 years to drive 3+ hours a day to sit in a cube on video meetings and breathe COVID air - FOR NO REASON. Frankly, the offices are depressing and demotivating environments devoid of creative energy. Cue the culture of “warm butts in seats.” And a huge pay cut to everyone who suddenly needed to start commuting 3 hours a day. Cue high-performers leaving in droves. And now - rolling layoffs for the next 6 months! I can’t wait to see them fire people, then repost their jobs so they can pay the next person less $$ to sit in a cube. Sad. Just horrifying to watch a once great company culture fall so fast.
