Great journalism overshadowed by poor leadership stability - News Reporter The Washington Post Employee Review

Pros

Industry-leading journalists producing generation-defining work. It is and always will be a great news organization, because an endless number of talented young people with an urge to prove themselves will show up and give it their all. This legendary hustle culture will persist.

Cons

Endorsement politics aside, it has just been poorly managed on a catastrophic level. A Post employee who joined in 2021 and stayed five years will have served under four CEOs (Ryan, Stonesifer, Lewis, D’Onfrio) and four editors-in-chief (Barron, Barr, Buzbee, Murray). If you are accustomed to a basic level of competence from leadership, you won’t find it here.

Pros

You work with a group of talented designers and patient, nurturing managers, each one cheering you and your work on.

Cons

A lot of turnover - people wanting to leave and people forced to leave. I've survived a number of layoffs here.
