Pros

- Paid every two weeks - Benefits not great (expensive, high co-pays; only 5 paid holidays per year), but at least they exist for full-time employment - 401K recently added - Location of HQ - The work could actually be interesting; never a boring day and was always busy (but see below; "overworked" is the operative word) - Some amazing, smart, talented coworkers (NOT in upper management) - Casual work environment (no dress code, can be fairly flexible about your hours depending on department)

Cons

- Absolutely no regard for a work-life balance, UNLESS you're a director or above. Then you can fake sick once a week and get annoyed when your staff can't make all deadlines even while working 60+ hours a week - Completely unrealistic expectations. Grow the company 30% every year with no additional headcount? Hire more VPs but no one who actually does the work? Yeah, that works well for everyone - Zero disregard for employees' time. Oh, you have to do that in the the middle of the night? We don't care cause we don't have to do it. Oh, you have to do that over the weekend? We don't care cause we don't have to do it. Read all the current job openings for HQ: they all state you have to work holidays, evenings, and weekends, in addition to a typical 5-day work week. You think that's an exaggeration? Think again. Working 7 days a week was the norm - No growth opportunity at all for hard-working, dedicated employees. No promotions and only small increases - CEO values chaos. The louder and more obnoxious you are, the more successful you will be. If you're quiet, hard-working, and like a professional office environment, you will FAIL. In fact, HR will tell you people are happier when you're not there. Office has music blasting at all hours, so if you just want a quiet environment to do your work, you can't have it. Cause not only is the music loud, but the open seating floor plan means everyone is screaming all the time. You have to scream over the music, and then other people have to scream over the other people screaming. From the time you arrive until the time you leave it's one giant headache of constant noise. But if you ask to work from home so you can actually concentrate on your work, you'll likely be denied or guilted out of it - No one in upper management is able to think logically. They want everyone to plan the marketing promos months ahead of time, which is actually what a company should be doing, HOWEVER, those plans are never followed. They would change the week-of all the time, with the explanation of "we have to adjust to the needs to the business." "Okay, so why plan?" "Oh, cause we were told we have to." "But it's all subject to change." "Yes, but you still have to plan even though none of this will stick and we'll decide everything the week of anyway." "But why do you need it months ahead of time? Who's looking at it? The creative team knows not to cause they know it will change." "You still have to plan and deliver it on the due date even though we all know it will change and this is a giant waste of your time." It was a maddening circle of writing plans and then re-writing them up to 15 times before the promo even started - You get lied to all the time. You sit in one meeting and hear about money being tight, not being able to pay vendors, etc., but then in the all company meeting they say everything is great - Plain ole nastiness from upper management. Directors and VPs legit talking down to their employees. Sometimes just criticism... not even constructive. Abusive work environment. Sitting in meetings with people yelling at each other and blaming one another. And for what? A tiny little furniture store that barely anyone has ever heard of? Do you really think you're changing the world? Get your expectations in order. Good employees are going to leave when the leader of their team shoots down every single thought and idea they have and is constantly sarcastic - The amount of sarcasm! Some of the department heads speak it as a first language. There is nothing professional about the leadership of this company

Pros

The office location is a huge perk: right in the middle of downtown Stamford. Being attached to the mall means being able to run errands no matter the weather. Also pretty much all non-managerial employees are easy to work with, smart, and friendly, with good insights and ideas.

Cons

Benefits- Medical benefits are the most expensive I've ever had with the worst plans (high copays, high deductibles). No 401K. Only 6 paid holidays a year (when asked about this, the CMO completely dismissed this as an issue and said "use your PTO if you want a holiday off."). Office is open even when the building is closed. Instead of bonuses one year, they gave everybody a Sac that otherwise would have been thrown out cause it was a return. So basically, Merry Christmas, here's a piece of garbage, but it was touted as the best possible gift and we should all be jumping for joy and grateful cause most of us can't afford our own products without steep discounts. No structure for bonuses or raises. CEO- Completely out of touch with the average employee. Thinks everything will go viral so makes everyone scramble to get dumb ideas out the door that always fail. Is responsible for delaying creative on a frequent basis. Oversteps product development. Oversteps pretty much everything. His idea of building a culture is blasting horrible music throughout the office (but if you look around about 90% of the office is wearing headphones to block it out; maybe 5 people actually enjoy it) and wasting money on Lovesac-branded clothing so we can all be his walking advertisements. The general consensus from every single person is if he spent $80 each on jackets, we'd all rather have the $80. Touts "family first" and the "Lovesac family" but in the same breath will tell us he'll never stop mass emailing on the weekends or asking everyone to go our stores and help out on our days off. Encourages us to submit questions and concerns via an anonymous survey, but every single answer is dismissive ("Can we send less mass emails?" "NO!" "Are you going to do anything about the high turnover?" "NO! GET OFF MY SPACESHIP! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GO TO THE MOON WITH ME I DON'T WANT YOU HERE!" "Can we get more paid holidays?" "NO! SUCK IT!" "Are we getting raises/bonuses?" "[strings together a bunch of meaningless crap that's all basically lies that amounts to...] NO!" Wants to force everyone to work in our stores and read books on our days off (take note: this is our jobs, not our lives. You can't control what we do outside the office). Upper management- With very few exceptions, they're all greedy, abusive, condescending, and are quick to place all the blame for their poor decisions on everyone else. Most are ridiculously young and lack experience yet act like they're high and mighty and know everything (newsflash: you don't. And we all see right through it). Most act as if they're better than everyone else. Serious information-hoarding and secrecy. A lot act as if knowing something that others don't gives them power. Marketing- The worst of the worst. The entire team needs to fired. Egotistical and pompous. Think they're better than everyone else. Comes up with one great idea once, has success, and then repeats it over and over and over cause they can't think of anything else. Is hated amongst just about everyone. Don't work well with others. Needs to be knocked off their pedestal. Unrealistic expectations of how long it takes to turn something around. No empathy for anyone else or any other teams. Will not take "no" for an answer from anyone. Thinks they're above the rules. HR- Completely useless. They kept firing the HR directors cause they didn't want to be told what they could and couldn't do. And the current HR person is best friends with some people and it's gotten out they blab confidential information. Not at all trustworthy. And when you do have a serious problem, the general consensus is to not bother going to HR cause unless it's benefit related, they don't have the power to actually fix anything. If you're loud enough and have too many issues, they'll find a way to let you go or encourage you to leave. Collaboration- Barely exists. Some teams get along well, others are in a constant state of battle that's both uncomfortable to be around and completely unproductive. Instead of talking with each other, most teams talk at each other. Office- Lights were strung up once for a party and never taken down. Half the bulbs are now burned out. There's a random disco ball hanging up at all times (newsflash: that isn't "cool culture." It's tacky). Boxes and piles of stuff everywhere. Basically, the place always looks like the day after a party, yet so many tout how beautiful the space is. It's not (but it could be if they'd clean it up).

Pros

Product is great. Warranties are great. That is all I can think of.

Cons

Was once a family structured company. Management puts fear into the teams to try and gain control. That is only counterproductive. 1.don’t ever expect time off 2. Forget about being human, my mother in law passed and I could not even go to her funeral, honestly to afraid to ask. There is a known chopping block of people they will be getting rid of. 3. No commission, there was for a short time, but they pulled it. Try explaining that to your team. In all my years of selling High end furniture there was always an incentive. The saying goes, put smaller chips at the poker table, get smaller returns. 4. Too much to put here. It was the most wonderful place. There is too many who would of done anything for this company. Me included. 4. Upper management-horrific, don’t expect to be heard unless you want career Suicide.
