Pros

The benefits were the only pro.

Cons

Toxic work environment, manager and director would rather have a revolving door of employees then be replaced, respect goes up/not down.

Pros

Great benefits and pay rates.

Cons

Very dysfunctional relationship with the unions. The unions are running their business which is good for no one including union members. The work place is full of conflict and contentiousness. Managers are in an impossible spot and can’t focus on what is really important because they have to focus on labor relations. The organizational is more worried about risk mitigation and liability vs employee experience. Everything is part of an overcomplicated process that is not efficient and is mind numbingly complex and unnecessary. They do not create a culture that is innovating, creative or engaging. Most employees just show up and go through the motions vs truly invested. They stay because of the pension and pay not because they feel valued or appreciated. Their employee engagement scores tell the truth- they do not value their people.

Pros

Great Medical benefits at no cost, pay is the best around. Pension after 5 years, 401k and annuity available. Education available.

Cons

Very heavy corporate culture. The lab is consistently under-staffed. Space in the lab is very limited, with no storage and very little space for employees (feels like working in a factory). Unfortunately, the cons outweigh the pros, even though the pros are pretty good. Kaiser's attitude toward the Lab does not match patient-facing job positions -we are often over-looked for improvements, staffing and other recognition. They hire at less than 40 hours, expecting you to pick up shifts for call outs rather than truly addressing the staffing problem. The corporate culture is suffocating.
