Pros

Getting paid every week. It's a good job if you have no education past high school. It's not hard to move up if you are REALLY good at your job.

Cons

When you start as a night manager they advertise an "averaged" manager salary of $36,000. They don't tell you until you're hired that you make $11/hour plus a monthly bonus that fluctuates depending on how your store performs. They also don't tell you that you work the overnight shift BY YOURSELF. As a 23 year old female at the time, that was very scary due to the homeless people and weirdos that lurk at night. On top of taking care of customers, they have a list of 30 things for you to get done before morning shift arrives and your expected to restock the entire store alone. You are also FORCED to work overtime with no scheduled breaks during your shift. You can eat when it's slow or you have "down time" which is like, never. The work made my back hurt terribly and made me an insomniac. I couldn't sleep when I'd get home or on my days off which were Wednesdays and Thursdays, which also wreaks havoc on your social life. Say goodbye to your relationship because unless your partner works nights too, you'll barely see them and you'll be extremely tired whenever you do.

Pros

When I first started with the company in the early 2000s, QT was a company that always considered the impact of the corporate decisions on the store employee. The company is still making large profits, which helps the "profit sharing bonus checks" we receive. The PR employees are very good at their jobs, which has firmly established a reputation with the community of being a "great" company to work for. This does garner respect from the average customer and increases costumer loyalty.

Cons

The current store set-up has placed unreasonable expectations on the store employees. Employees receive NO breaks, work long shifts, harsh upper management techniques, a sexist work environment, evaluations designed to promote those employees that have found favor (warranted and unwarranted) with the supervisor that rarely visits the store, (n fact, most promotions are based on kinship/friendship rather than merit), benefits have been greatly reduced in the last few years (the "insurance" costs are high, the company has an inconvenient in in-house clinic where you are required to see the company doctor, pick up prescriptions and specialty doctors are extremely limited), and unfortunately after so many years on the job, it is very much a company that promotes those employees willing to negotiate their character.

Pros

None remain for any long term reason.

Cons

Five "Core Values" have all been betrayed. "Never be satisfied" CEO now compares us to other companies, instead of comparing to where we were five years ago. "Think long term" A bonus was given out to divert attention from rising insurance premiums. Increased premiums that consume the bonus in a month. Our benefit package has been butchered. I now pay $9000 a year for insurance that has a $2500 deductible, and will take medical bills directly from my paycheck. If I don't meet the payment schedule QT sets forth for my medical bills, they will deduct it as a healthcare payment from my paycheck before I can touch it. Plans were made to replace people, not retain them. Our training program, for part and full time, as been moved to three trainees instead of two. With no increase in New store locations, somehow we need 50% more new hires. And the training staff were given a reduced pay schedule. We are bleeding from a thousand cuts. Less hours. Less coverage. Less pay. Less bonus. Less staffing. Less one-on-one. No quikstarts. No daw/hours. No overlap. No stability. No accountability. We are the boiling frogs. We stay because we have the job and it consumes our time and energy. I haven't had a lunch break or 10 minute break in eight years. We are just a resource to be acquired and expended by this company. They have burned through me. Join and QuikTrip will burn through you as well.
