Pros

Nice swag they send out, mental health benefits are covered 100%

Yikes - it’s painfully obvious that when good reviews come in, they are either from therapists (these are 1099s and don’t actually know the ins and outs of company practices) or from upper mgmt trying to save face. You laid people off before Christmas after acquiring a company months before and knew you’d be doing layoffs during the time of acquisition! Immediately started posting for new roles two weeks after the layoffs, and Mark held an all hands for the remainder of the staff which was essentially an hour of gaslighting and “I’m sorry you feel that way” talk. If you are looking to work here please be cautious of this company! Make sure to ask about churn, culture, growth, and how they differ from Better help in regards to patient safety and billing mishaps. The mission is often what sells people but it’s heartbreaking to work for predatory dudes who only care about conversion and prioritizing their psychiatrist buddies caseloads over actual psychiatrists who have capacity to take new patients on.

Where to begin….. this company is run by delusional leadership. Expect to hear them consistently preach about sondermind’s successes in the company All Hands meetings and choose to ignore the reality of what is going on. For one, the billing department is a mess. An over worked and poorly staffed billing department is constantly dropping the ball. No safeguards are in place to ensure clients are protected from exorbitant charges all happening at once. Support staff is over worked and under appreciated. Sondermind prides itself in having developed its own platform for telehealth but the platform barely even works. It’s riddled with bugs and it’s super glitchy. Instead of investing time in perfecting that software or INVESTING in a something that ACTUALLY WORKS they throw on bandaid fixes and never end up actually fixing anything. Internal communication (between departments and even within departments) is non existent. Sondermind is chaotic and inefficient in everything it does and uses the fact that it is a start up as an excuse when they fall short. SonderMind has no respect for employees and even less for their clients. Management will hold meetings under the pretense of having transparent conversations where you can ‘ask them anything’ but it’s really just a space for them to defensively make excuses for their decisions. Beyond that they’re only really interested in engaging in conversations with suck-ups looking to get on their good side. The push to grow as quickly as possible during the pandemic really exposed all that is wrong with this business and its practices. Every review you read on BBB or trustpilot is not an exaggeration this business falls short in almost everything it does. Please please stay away from this place. Their business practices are predatory and from an employee perspective they do not pay competitively. I used to really enjoy my coworkers but turnover is high here and by the time I left I did not have any people I felt any connection with.. This is not a career defining place you will be stuck in a dead end job at a sinking company being under paid and undervalued. I would never recommend them as an employer and I would definitely never recommend them to anyone looking for mental health support.

Pros

Hi I’m a very positive person and can usually see the positive side of things. But I just can’t see the positive side of Sondermind which has known for months and months that its video platform is broken and has done absolutely nothing to fix it

Cons

This Sondermind video sessions often don’t work. At least 50% of the time. Multiple SONDERMIND therapists have been complaining about this to Sondermind since at least August 2021!! Sondermind just keeps saying they’re “working on it”!!! How long does it take to fix this. Sometimes the video session just cuts off completely right in the middle of the session. Or the video doesn’t work. It is out right FRAUD for the clients and for the therapists to claim you have a working video platform — but you don’t. Clearly Sondermind‘s in-house tech hasn’t been able to fix this for months. The company has multi millions of dollars so why don’t they hire outside consultants, Or find some other solution,and fix this??

We actively monitor provider and client experience on our video platform and are always looking at ways to improve our experience. In 2021, we rolled out multiple technical improvements to our video telehealth experience. Some of these improvements included functionality to change audio/video source, enhancements to video encoding, and introducing a tool to let users know when they are experiencing network issues impacting their video connection.
