High School Clique Mentality Ruins

Pros

Employees and their children can receive free educations from non-professional schools. On-site free medical clinic. Good health insurance and retirement plans. Easy commute via subway and bus lines.

Cons

Pay is below-scale for technical people. Vision plan is sub-standard. Promotions and training are only for those who are "in the clique". Heavy duty nepotism is the norm and is referred to as "the Temple Way". Clique members tend to harass outsiders with assignment overloads, ostracism, and snide remarks. Team work is defined as 2 cliquers are "in charge", 1 clique-outsider does all the actual work.

Pros

Good retirement benefits if you can make it 3 years without leaving--I could not. Good vacation time--you will need it.

Cons

In the Fox School of Business there is way too much bureaucracy, very little camaraderie between departments and programs, and how something looks is often more important than how it functions. The top administrators in the college seemed very egotistical and not supportive of the rest of the university. My supervisors were not trained in the area of expertise that I was hired for, were very unsupportive of new ideas and industry standard practices, were very unprofessional in how they dealt with situations that didn't align with the plan in their heads that they didn't bother to share, and very poor at communicating clear goals and expectations. As a whole, very behind in flexible work schedule options as in there are none.
