Depressing post-acquisition

Pros

If you have 3 years of tenure the 401k match is good. Still pockets of good work being done.

Cons

- Product direction and leadership is unclear. - Cultural differences between AppNexus and AT&T are vast. Despite supportive comments from executives, the gap is likely too big to be bridged. - Bureaucratic internal process to get basic things done like hiring are slowing the business down. - More of an emphasis on style and branding over substance and technology. Choosing to invest in external marketing events and client swag over employee benefits and salary. - Got rid of nearly all of the AppNexus executives and every day more smart people walk out the door. - Values feel like they have changed substantially.

Pros

The work itself is relatively unchanged following acquisition

Cons

Generally a depressing environment in engineering. The constant high-level & senior departures do not bode well Benefits are a slap in the face. Healthcare is thousands upon thousands of dollars more expensive per year. 401k now on a 3 year vest. No equity if you aren't a director. Full Bonus payout seems like a pipedream given the performance goals. It's been acknowledged by at&t leadership that benefits, new policies that affect culture, etc are causing vast turnover. However our ceo basically said they're going to continue to do these things despite the obvious effects in retention.

Pros

Nice smart people. Especially legacy AppNexus team.

Cons

Letting senior Product and Eng leaders from AppNexus leave is not just bad for morale, it's dumb from a business perspective. Ad Tech isn't TV or phones, the details matter, and legacy AT&T people deciding direction do not understand those details.
