Alyssa Perezchica recently transitioned from an Office Coordinator role at Lemonaid Health (part of the 23andMe family) to Benefits Coordinator on the People Team at 23andMe. Alyssa’s new role involves coordination of all leaves of absence and benefits orientations, as well as working with our Director of Benefits to oversee employee benefits. Currently, her focus is on end-of-year tasks. “I’m looking forward to facilitating my first open enrollment!,” she said. When asked what her favorite part of working at 23andMe is, Alyssa said, “The people, hands down! It was very nerve-wracking jumping into a new company but everyone has been so supportive, kind, and fun to work with from the start!” She is also enjoying her participation in our Base Pair employee mentoring program and the GENtE ERG, our employee resource group serving the latinx/latine community. As part of 23andMe’s Speaker Series, employees got to hear from French biochemist Jessie I., former 23andMe Product Manager and international bestselling author of Glucose Revolution! The fireside chat was led by Sarah Laskey, Sr. Scientist on the Health Product R&D team, and they discussed Jessie’s time at 23andMe and how her glucose project came about. The chat ended with Jessie answering employee questions about her experience as the Glucose Goddess and her plans for the future.
As the Office Manager, Emmeline De Silva’s role involves all things people, systems and processes. She manages onboarding for all new UK employees and provides HR support, ensures that the office is stocked up with drinks, snacks and office equipment and organizes regular socials for the team. “Overall, I make the office run smoothly and make sure everyone’s experience at Lemonaid Health UK is amazing,” she said. When asked what her favorite part of working here is, Emmeline said, “My favorite part is the culture and people. I love that I can be myself here!” She is also excited to join the “Owning My Career” training that’s put on by the People team and get the opportunity to develop in her career. Outside of work, Emmeline says she is an adrenaline junkie and foodie who loves traveling and even recently learned how to surf in the south of England.
