As part of our 23andMe+ Membership, we released a new wellness report powered by 23andMe research on seasonal allergies (also known as hay fever or allergic rhinitis). Seasonal allergies occur when the immune system overreacts to allergens like pollen or mold at certain times of the year. People with seasonal allergies are also more likely to develop asthma and may experience difficulty breathing or wheezing. Members can access the report to learn more about their genetic likelihood of developing this condition.
As a Senior Marketing Analyst at 23andMe, Nick Chandler works with the Marketing team to help quantify the effects of our media advertising and make it more efficient. Depending on the day of the week, his work might involve setting up A/B tests, establishing data pipelines, building dashboards or conducting ad-hoc analysis. When asked about his favorite part of working here, Nick said, “It's the mix of raw intelligence and genuine kindness of my coworkers. We have such smart people and yet there is very little ego. People challenge each other, but in a respectful and collaborative manner. Also, Summer Fridays since the beginning of the pandemic!” Outside of his direct duties, Nick co-leads the DEI Training Pod, a group that creates, selects and hosts employee training programs on topics such as unconscious bias and allyship. The goal of the group's efforts (and that of other employee groups) is to improve hiring practices, raise awareness of existing inequities and give employees tools to enhance the daily workplace experience for everyone.
