Over the last two years, we have learned that we were capable of transforming whilst still delivering unparalleled value and support to our customers and one another. With #HispanicHeritageMonth, we wanted to check in with a member of our Ohana Employee Resource Group (ERG) to tell us more about the ERG and the month. Meet Yancy 👋 A Technical Project Manager based in 📍 New York for #AkamaiUS. “The Ohana ERG looks to further and expand the work, inclusion, and support of our incredibly diverse talent, from employees of Latino & Black descent and beyond! It is an opportunity to connect and share with Akamai’s best and brightest whilst learning and growing from the wide variety of knowledge and lessons that each has to offer. All in support of a collective desire to foster a more inclusive and diverse work environment.” How is it going for celebrations for National Hispanic Heritage Month? 🎉 “The celebration has already begun! Ohana supports a wide variety of events, and for this month, there are digital meet-ups to celebrate all aspects of Hispanic life - culture, tradition, and of course la Comida! We’ve had contributions from members of all backgrounds - Puerto Rican, Costa Rican, and Venezuelan!”
Last week, we hosted our third annual Akamai People Experience (APEX) Career Expo for our employees globally. 🌍 At Akamai, we know that our #1 asset is our people. During the three days, we share information and resources that empower our employees to achieve their personal and professional development goals; as well as an avenue to network with new colleagues. Sessions included: Mentoring@Akamai 🤝, where employees can learn about the mentoring platform we run. Career Path Options 💼, where those who are curious about roles outside their current career path can hear from other colleagues who have switched roles. A day in the life… ☀️, where employees can hear from fellow colleagues about what it means to be at Akamai. All of this and 30+ more sessions! Following a great response to last year’s virtual format, this year was also virtual to be inclusive of our truly global community, offices large and small around the world. 🌍
At Akamai, we believe our employees can do their best work when they are at their best. To keep our people healthy, we offer a progressive wellness program, this includes: 💸 A Wellness Allowance – to be used how they please from mindfulness, gym memberships, digital fitness subscriptions to home gym equipment. 💻 Various Programs – from company-wide challenges, biking programs, health screenings, wellness coaching to financial education. 🤝 Local Campaigns – in August, there was 'Investing in your Future' for #AkamaiUS to share resources about living financially well.
