With the month of Pride, we wanted to check in with our Akamai employees, to see what they could share with us about the meaning of the month to them. Meet Liz 👋 Why is the month important and how will you be celebrating it? "Pride is about protest and community. It is a time for LGBTQ+ people to claim space, to show our diversity, to honor our history, to come together in our joy and to continue organizing for equity and justice. To celebrate, I connect with my LGBTQ+ friends and family. I also usually call my parents to say thank you because without their unconditional support my life might be very different today." How has Out@Akamai been supportive to you and the members? "Akamai came out in favor of LGBTQ+ rights before we even founded the Out@Akamai Employee Resource Group. The group offers opportunities for professional development, networking, community service, collaboration and fun. For me, having been at Akamai for 14 years now, it has been a real delight to watch Out@Akamai grow from a relatively small group to a large global network of supportive colleagues."
In her latest blog post, Courtney Hadden, Senior Program Manager of Sustainability, tells us about how Akamai employees showed up for Akamai #EarthMonth: "Across the globe, our employees were able to unite, be educated, engage and be inspired to take action today, to care for the planet of tomorrow."
