We're celebrating Native American Heritage Month with Daniel Pedro, Cake Decorator at Safeway in Gallup, NM. Daniel creates beautiful cakes in our bakery each day, but his passion for art doesn’t stop there. As a fashion designer, Daniel seeks to incorporate Zuni Pueblo pottery designs into formal fashion. “As a Native American artist, it is my goal to bring cultural diversity to others outside of my community through fashion and design. Right now there is a push to bring Native American cultural awareness through different multimedia outlets and I feel that fashion is one way to help contribute to these efforts.” Daniel encourages others to seek out Native American businesses and artists to support. “One of the best ways to support Native American communities is to support local artists and small businesses. When you buy products made from an indigenous community, you are helping to support their local economy as well as share in their culture.” Daniel, thank you for sharing more about your culture and your passion for design!
