Albertsons Companies Store Director, Jeremy Koester and his team at store #1470 in Coeur d'Alene, ID pulled off the ultimate surprise party for one of their special customers. Ben Mitchell, a Military Veteran and retired Safeway employee turned 90 yesterday! Ben’s daughter, Kathy, helped arrange a party at his favorite store and associates from across District 33 came out to celebrate Ben with a gift basket, birthday cake and his favorite fried chicken to take home for dinner. Local Military Vets also came out to wish Ben a Happy Birthday and the CDA Press featured Ben in the newspaper. Thank you for making the day unforgettable for a very special customer and team member, District 33!

Virginia Vargas has been a Deli Clerk at Albertsons Market #665 in Carlsbad, NM for nearly six years. She's a true expert in her department and is known throughout the store for her compassion and kind heart. Virginia always goes out of her way to make certain customers receive the absolute best service possible. Several days ago, Virgina's bicycle – her sole means of transportation to work – was stolen. When her #665 team found out, they immediately began a donation drive to purchase her a new bike along with a good lock. It took only a couple of days to collect more than $300. The team surprised Virginia with her new bicycle last Thursday and she was beaming with joy and gratitude. Store Director, David Beaty, shared this story because he wanted to highlight how wonderful Virginia is and share an example of how Albertsons Market in Carlsbad isn't just a group of employees – its a true work family. Teamwork makes the dream work! District Pharmacy Manager, Christina Landis, and her team recently held a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Dumphries, VA. The Pharmacy team did an AMAZING job, vaccinating more than 1,700 patients with just five days notice from the county. Thank you to Christina and the rest of the team for your leadership and tireless work in vaccinating the communities we serve!
