With America's 250th anniversary coming up, we are looking back at America's bold step forward to create a new nation. Today, the Declaration of Independence remains a key document in our founding principles, including a constitutionally limited government. Check out how Americans for Prosperity uses the Declaration of Independence as a framework for limited government.

AFPF’s Capitol Leaders Program Reimagined With Freedom Embassy Event Americans for Prosperity Foundation’s Capitol Leaders program recently brought together 25 state legislators from 12 states for a dynamic two-day experience at AFP’s Freedom Embassy in Washington, D.C. Focused on administrative state reform, the event gave lawmakers a chance to learn from one another, share winning strategies, and build momentum for meaningful change. Over the past two years, states have made major strides on regulatory reform — especially the spread of REINS Act–style measures that strengthen oversight and restore balance between branches of government. At the start of 2025, only three states had these safeguards in place. Thanks in part to AFP’s advocacy, six more states enacted similar reforms this year, accelerating a nationwide shift toward accountability. The reimagined Capitol Leaders gathering helped equip policymakers with fresh insights, practical tools, and new partnerships to carry this progress into 2026 and beyond.
AFP & CVA Launch “Make Government Work” Campaign to Tackle Dysfunction in Washington Americans for Prosperity (AFP) and Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) just launched a major new initiative — Make Government Work — to push for accountability, transparency, and real results in Washington. The seven-figure campaign includes a new website, MakeGovernmentWork.com , and a nationwide effort to mobilize Americans who are tired of crisis-to-crisis governing and want leaders focused on solving problems. As AFP’s Kent Strang put it, “Washington’s constant shutdown threats and budget chaos hurt everyone. This campaign is about fixing that — with real reforms that restore accountability and force government to live within its means.” CVA’s John Vick added, “It’s time we righted the ship and stopped waste and dysfunction that hold back progress for all Americans.” Through Make Government Work, AFP and CVA are calling for practical, bipartisan solutions to streamline government, prevent shutdowns, and make sure power and decision-making stay close to the people. The campaign’s ads and grassroots outreach will help Americans connect directly with lawmakers to demand action. At Stand Together, we’re proud to partner with organizations like AFP and CVA that are driven by a simple idea: when people are empowered and institutions are accountable, everyone has a better shot at realizing their potential.
The LIBRE Initiative is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with the kickoff of “One Small Step” — a seven-figure campaign to educate, inspire, and mobilize Latinos to protect America’s founding principles of freedom. As part of this campaign, LIBRE is unveiling a new video featuring LIBRE Founding President Daniel Garza. Not only does this video spotlight centuries of Latino contributions in the great American experiment, but it also demonstrates a forward-looking vision about what’s possible because of the principles of human progress. Building on the success of its “Quiero ser LIBRE” brand campaign, One Small Step invites Latinos to take action through LIBRE and partner organizations such as The LIBRE Institute, Americans for Prosperity, and Concerned Veterans for America. This initiative will include events, civics classes, media outreach, and more leading up to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.
Americans for Prosperity has launched its “One Small Step” campaign — a nationwide effort to help Americans take meaningful action that strengthens freedom and opportunity. As CEO Emily Seidel explained, the campaign is about empowering people to “take meaningful action today that carries our country forward.” Through digital outreach and on-the-ground organizing, AFP is inviting people to join in shaping a better future rooted in the principles that made the American Dream possible. A central part of the campaign is highlighting real stories of Americans making a difference — from individuals pursuing their dreams to activists tackling barriers in their communities. You can explore the stories and videos on AFP’s YouTube channel, including What Fuels the Freedom to Dream Bigger?, One Small Step to Reignite the American Dream, and shorts featuring grassroots activists like Joel, who started a school and partnered with AFP to address education policy challenges.
AFP’s Protect Prosperity Campaign Achieves Major Legislative Win with Passage of Tax Cut Package We’re pleased to share a significant policy victory for Americans for Prosperity (AFP) and our broader movement: the extension of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) has officially passed Congress and been signed into law by the president. This milestone follows months of deliberation in both the House and Senate and represents a major success for AFP’s Protect Prosperity campaign — a core initiative focused on preventing tax increases and securing long-term economic opportunity for all Americans. In a press release issued on July 4, AFP CEO Emily Seidel praised the work of the grassroots team: “Getting this bill across the finish line showcased the true power of the grassroots, who — since January — kept up the pressure on their lawmakers to do the right thing. We can’t forget their herculean efforts. Together, we reached out to over a million voters. From making hundreds of thousands of phone calls to policymakers, to attending hundreds of grassroots events, and knocking on hundreds of thousands of doors, our activists made sure that lawmakers knew how important it is that we protect prosperity and turn the corner on the disastrous economic policies of the previous administration.”
AFP Applauds House Passage of Pro-Growth Tax Bill On May 22, the U.S. House passed H.R. 1, the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” Act—legislation that makes the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent, boosts American energy, and strengthens border security. Americans for Prosperity has been a strong advocate for the bill throughout its journey. Brent Gardner, AFP’s Chief Government Affairs Officer, praised House leadership for advancing a bill that reflects the priorities of millions of Americans. AFP President & CEO Emily Seidel highlighted the critical role of grassroots activists in driving momentum—through calls, letters, events, and door knocking. As the bill moves to the Senate, AFP will continue mobilizing its grassroots network to ensure lawmakers stay bold and unified in delivering lasting tax relief and economic opportunity. This is grassroots power in action—and a reminder that when policy and people align, real change is possible.
Building on the momentum of our February event with House Speaker Mike Johnson, Americans for Prosperity recently hosted another marquee event at the Freedom Embassy in Washington, D.C. This time, Fox News contributor and Townhall.com editor Katie Pavlich sat down with GOP Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain to discuss how House Republicans plan to address reconciliation language. AFP CEO Emily Seidel opened the event with remarks on the urgent need for principled policy solutions. Across the country, AFP is ramping up efforts to challenge the status quo—pushing back on burdensome regulations, wasteful spending, and inflation-driving policies that are holding back Americans’ potential. Through national events, direct engagement with lawmakers, grassroots mobilization, and strategic media efforts, we’re shaping the conversation and driving real change.
