Customer service representatives from Armstrong's Connellsville location have been saving up this past year to help fund the office's MLK Day of Service project: filling bags of food for local food insecure families. Employees are asked to donate $5 each month to Armstrong's Breaking Bread initiative. In exchange, the employees are able to dress down (wear jeans) at work. With the donations from 2021, the Connellsville office purchased food and is sponsoring the Backpack Buddies program for the month of February. Local children are given bags of food at school to take home for the weekend!
Hamlin, WV - Armstrong's James Scarberry (Left), presents a $2,000 donation and 100 pounds of food to Lee Hager (Right), volunteer with the Bread From Heaven Food Pantry. The donation is made possible through Armstrong’s Breaking Bread initiative to collect resources that help supply community feeding programs. The money is donated from generous Armstrong customers and employees. About Breaking Bread: https://armstrongonewire.com/BreakingBread
The Grove City, PA Armstrong team was able to rent a hall large enough to accommodate the entire crew to celebrate Christmas together. We played a game where everyone picked a present and then rolled a directional dice that instructed the gift recipient to pass the gift to the left, or pass the gift to someone wearing green, etc. A fun time was had by all! We also celebrated our team's General Manager, Melinda Weaver (front row, second from left) who will be retiring after 43 years of service to Armstrong. Thank you, Melinda!
The competition was fierce among the Butler, PA system's rough, tough and talented techs during a game of Christmas trivia. Everyone participated in the activity and also enjoyed a "12 Days of Christmas" charade and a "Let's Make a Deal" gift exchange during the local system's annual Christmas Gathering.
The talented and jolly staff (minus the Grinch) from Ashland, OH spreads some holiday cheer during the annual Christmas parade. How talented is this group of Armstrong employees?! - The sleigh was HAND-BUILT by commercial account executive Mike Metz! - The star of the sleigh was customer service representative and former American Idol contestant Eric Stroud, who WOWed the crowd singing Christmas songs, as well as belting out his own original Ashland-specific song played to the tune of Jingle Bell Rock. -Community marketing manager/office manager Sandy Burkholder guided the sleigh along the parade route through the streets of downtown Ashland. -General manager Mitch Piskur, naturally dressed as The Grinch, receiving cheers and jeers from the children for attempting to steal this special holiday. -Premise technician - Lead, Matt Eshleman and his family, also participated by handing out goodies and making spirits bright. A fun and successful evening was had by all, and to all, a good night.
Each year, employees enjoy the Friday after Thanksgiving with their families and off from work for an Armstrong holiday known as "Papa Jud" Day! Jud L. Sedwick, "Papa Jud," is the founder and visionary of Armstrong. Until the end of his life, Jud continued to be active in the business, always being the first person into work every day. His employees became part of the family and he knew most of them by name. He was quoted in 1990 saying, "The loyalty of my employees never ceases to amaze me." Armstrong remains a family business with many family members actively involved. We continue Jud’s desire to value strong relationships with our employees and close ties to the communities we serve.
Armstrong is so proud of our employees and family members who have served and continue to serve in the military supporting the many freedoms we enjoy as Americans. We thank you and all of our veterans for your bravery and dedication. Your service will never be forgotten.
