We're celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with member stories from across the U.S. In this post, technical source Santosh Balajapalli shares his story. “AAPI heritage month brings up the vastness of Asian culture; we span across so many different countries and languages,” says Santosh, whose family immigrated to the U.S. from India when he was six years old. “You couldn’t cover it all in one week, and I’m thrilled to see these voices be heard.”

At CGI, we celebrate Military Appreciation Month and work year-round to enable veterans to launch rewarding careers in business and IT consulting. CGI's Dr. James Peake, a former Army Surgeon General and Secretary of Veteran Affairs, recently joined Veterans Radio to discuss how veterans can leverage their leadership, initiative and work ethic for a fulfilling and rewarding career in technology and how CGI offers additional support to its internal veteran community. People who have served possess valuable skills and leadership qualities that make them suitable for a career in IT, according to Dr. Peake. Dr. Peake also shared about the VA’s unwavering support of the 19 million U.S. veterans across the U.S. and highlights the impact of critical programs such as telemedicine, research and benefit access. In April and early May, more than 120 CGI members across five states are taking part in events for Earth Day and Arbor Day 2023. From removing invasive species and planting trees in Virginia to beautifying public spaces through litter cleanup in Louisiana, their efforts not only reflect our members’ dedication to making a difference in the communities they call home but also CGI’s larger commitment to sustainability. In 2021, CGI pledged to achieve net zero carbon emissions globally by 2030. Today, we are on the road to net zero and have reduced emissions by 65% since 2014. In addition to corporate initiatives, CGI members continue to self-organize around efforts to create a more sustainable world.
