What does it mean to be fearless as a woman in tech? We've collected some great advice from four women leaders who are creating change by unabashedly pursuing their own goals and encouraging other women to do the same. "Seize opportunities. Say yes when you can. Say no when you need to. Share your ideas. Try something new. And always bring your best."
At CGI, we are celebrating International Women's Day with some tangible advice from Susan Wartel for leaders, men, women and companies for creating equity in the workplace. Susan considers herself lucky. When her oldest son was born eight weeks early, her boss and work team stepped up to support her while she watched over her son at the hospital’s neonatal ICU. “It was true teamwork, allowing me to be where I needed to be and ensuring that work didn’t get dropped, given his unexpected early arrival. Not only did this support help me reengage with work when I returned from maternity leave, but it also made me feel appreciated and valued and increased my loyalty for years to come,” she says. But as Susan, a founding member of CGI’s Women’s Forum, reflects on International Women’s Day, she stresses that equity for women in the workplace can’t be left to the good fortune of having a supportive boss. Rather, it must be embedded into an inclusive and equitable work culture for everyone. Read the blog for the rest of Susan's story and actional steps toward equity.

CGI's stock (GIB) is up over 6% in the past month. Here is one analyst's take on why the stock is on the rise and why she expects the trend to continue.
Nina Gunst, security engineer at CGI, recently shared with us why representation is important to her. “To me, seeing someone that looks like me or has a similar background is very motivating,” says Nina Gunst, a security engineer at CGI. “It reminds me that I am not limited to what I believe, but rather that there are opportunities out there that I have a chance of taking advantage of." Creating opportunities for people from underrepresented groups is central to CGI’s mission to build and sustain a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce. In other words, we’re working hard to ensure we recruit and retain professionals who look like Nina. View our Instagram post for more of Nina's story.

For the CGI team in Sacramento, Martin Luther King Day was truly “a day on, not a day off.” Marking not only the legacy of an American civil rights hero, but a day of national service, 26 members spent the day sorting food for Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services (SFBFS). CGI’s partnership with SFBFS dates back more than five years, and members volunteer several times a year, including holidays such as Thanksgiving when they help distribute meals to people in need. And our members aren’t stopping there. The Sacramento team will also perform pro bono work to help the Food Bank strengthen their connectivity to state agencies for eligibility verification – completed in time for the busy holiday season this year. In the meantime, in honor of MLK Day 2023, CGI volunteers filled 507 boxes and loaded 11 pallets, amounting to 16,000 pounds of food including more than 1,000 bags of sweet potatoes. At CGI, it’s just one way we remain committed to strengthening the communities where our members live, work and serve their clients.
