With help from the team at Morningstar Mission Viejo (Bria, Bahar, Daisy, Ram, Joyce, and Judee), Ron has left his wheelchair behind and is now up and active in his community again! He's even enjoying yoga for the first time!
EmpowerMe's therapy team in Lubbock, Texas, made March Madness come alive for the residents of Primrose's retirement community! Though they were rooting for a Texas Tech win, they're still having fun helping the seniors there to keep up with the games, and encouraging them to help update their wall-sized bracket!
He had a broken humerus, but the dad jokes just kept on coming! An aficionado of bad puns, Jack moved to Ivy Park Mission Viejo following a severe fall which landed him in skilled nursing with a fracture in his left arm and a need for maximum assistance for his ADLs. He was quickly referred to EmpowerMe's physical and occupational therapy services and has been improving ever since! Jack’s balance and endurance have progressed to the point where he is comfortable and confident in his ability to use the stairs during community outings. Jack’s can-do attitude and endless supply of bad jokes have made him a favorite with all the therapists — they're all rooting for him!
Marcie Basiletti, a speech-language pathologist, and her mom volunteered their time at one of our partner communities for an afternoon of soap making! They helped residents showed up to pick their favorite scents and craft their own bars! Thank you, Marcie, for being so involved in the wellbeing of our residents!
We’re thrilled to highlight Rae Taylor, OT, our new Clinic Director, who’s already making waves at EmpowerMe Wellness! Just weeks into her role, Rae jumped right in by hosting her first open house event at Cardinal Point at Alameda. At EmpowerMe, we’re committed to empowering our therapists with the support they need to succeed. Rae’s ADO, Tia Ngo, was right there to cheer her on with her, bringing along her furry friend to brighten the residents’ day. Moments like these showcase how our leadership and team spirit come together to create meaningful experiences for everyone. Here’s to many more successful events, Rae!
Welcome, baby Xiomara! The Somerby Lake Nona team came together for an amazing surprise baby shower for EmpowerMe therapist Mayra, our soon-to-be mom! Staff and residents gathered to make the day unforgettable, complete with tasty treats like cupcakes, cheeseballs, cookies, and lemonade. Everyone joined in the fun with games like baby bottle chugging, baby bingo, measuring the mommy-to-be's belly, and even a “what’s in the diaper bag?” challenge—with prizes for the winners! Huge thanks to our Life Enrichment team and residents for keeping the surprise under wraps and adding beautiful decorations. Mayra’s face said it all when she walked in!
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, Tonya (on the left), EmpowerMe’s Clinic Director at Sodalis Martinez, has been an unwavering source of support for the residents and the community team. Whether assisting with meal preparation, helping with clean-up, or offering a helping hand wherever needed, Tonya's dedication knows no bounds. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed! Shadia Freeman, Sodalis' Regional Director of Operations, shared her heartfelt praise: I’ve never seen a vendor team member play such a vital role, especially in such challenging times. We are so thankful for Tonya’s unwavering commitment!”
The Legacy at South Plains therapy team recently came together for their first-ever walker and wheelchair wash event. From washing rims to shining frames, the team had a great time working under a sea of bubbles, proving that at EmpowerMe, teamwork and fun go hand in hand. The best part? Seeing our therapists come together, support each other, and bring joy to our residents’ day!
Even when we're cheering for different sports teams, one thing is certain: we're all on the same incredible rehab team! Our Northern California Region leadership team at EmpowerMe Wellness loves working and hanging out together, fostering a supportive and fun environment for everyone. Let’s go, EmpowerMe Wellness!
