The event was attended by several H2Mers, including current Ms. Moxxie mentees being sponsored by H2M and our Women's Leadership Employee Resource Group. At H2M architects + engineers, we proudly support the ACE Mentor Program of Greater NY (Architecture, Construction, and Engineering). This program provides a forum for high school students to be mentored and inspired to pursue careers in architecture, engineering, and construction. Each year, H2M hosts an ACE Mentor class that meets bi-weekly to work with our staff. Students work in teams and collaborate on a real design project to present to their families and other local ACE teams at the end of the school year. This program gives students hands-on experience and allows them to find their passion within the industry. H2M's ACE Mentor Program held their first meeting last week for the 2021-2022 school year. Students got to meet the H2M employees that will serve as their mentors for the next 7 months, received a tour of H2M's office AND were challenged to create a spaghetti bridge in under 10 minutes. The winning bridge held 28 ounces of water! #H2M #STEM #ACEMENTOR #engineering #architecture

On the last day of American Clean Power Week, we present The East River Energy Storage System. H2M architects + engineers is proud to be involved in this exciting battery storage project in Queens, NY. Con Edison and 174 Power Global have an agreement that will place the largest battery storage project in New York State on an industrial site in Astoria, Queens. The batteries will be able to discharge 100 megawatts – that’s 100 million watts – of electricity. 174 Power Global, which specializes in renewable energy projects, will build and own the battery system on land owned by the New York Power Authority where the former Poletti power plant used to be. H2M has partnered with 174 Power Global to consult on utility interface and transmission design. This project will help displace some fossil fuel-fired generation when the demand for power is highest. Utility scale battery storage will play a vital role in New York’s clean energy future, especially in New York City where it will help to maximize the benefit of the wind power being developed offshore. #AmericanCleanPowerWeek #H2M #ba
