Kaiser Permanente Northwest's Center for Health Research in Portland turned 50 years old this year. Over the past 50 years the Center has conducted such diverse studies as quitting smoking to geriatric health to better pain management techniques. One of the most important, though, was a poverty studies project that led to Medicaid managed care and a lot of disease prevention work. For the fourth consecutive year, Kaiser Permanente has won the eHealth Organizational Commitment award, which recognizes the health care provider’s commitment to using the Internet and technology to help achieve its mission and strategic business objectives.
