National Coming Out Day has been observed since 1988, celebrating anyone coming out as lesbian, transgender, bisexual, gay, or queer. Much progress has been made since the first National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights in 1979, but coming out still matters and still holds remarkable significance for many queer individuals on a global scale. CELEBRATE & LEARN about pivotal moments in queer history, the statistics of violence against the queer community, and how to get political with your support. CONNECT with LGBTQ+ people on your social media feeds, in your family, in your media, and at your workplace. SUPPORT LGBTQ+ Community members and remember: coming out is deeply personal. Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
Last Friday, we lost a champion of women's and LGBTQ+ rights. In the commitment to expanding liberty and equality for all, few stars shine more brightly than Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. A hero and an icon, Justice Ginsburg's passing reminds us of a poignant opportunity to reflect on how far we've come, but more importantly, how much work we have left to do. Since her appointment in 1993, Justice Ginsburg has been on the side of LGBTQ+ rights at every opportunity, from same-sex marriage equality to job protections to decriminalization of homosexuality to legal recognition of queer lives. Outside the courtroom, she was the first Supreme Court member to officiate wedding ceremonies for LGBTQ+ couples. She was and will remain a beacon of inspiration to women, queer folks, and Americans everywhere. Regardless of where you may fall on the political spectrum, Justice Ginsburg's contributions to humanity and society are undeniable. She wasn't just a trailblazer for women - but a trailblazer for anyone impassioned by a cause.
Ramp Camp, LiveRamp's historic weekend camping trip, has always been one of the best attended and most exciting events of the year, and this summer was no different. Our exceptional Workplace Experience team created virtual series of events that brought LiveRampers together from across the globe through August and September. Curious to learn more? Meet our CEO, Scott Howe who was featured in our Life at LiveRamp Newsletter today!
LiveRamp continues to support our parents! Not only have we hosted virtual Mother's and Father's Day panels where our parents on our Leadership team came together to give insight on what parenting looks like for them this year, but we also send out a company newsletter with resources for our parents that has tips and tricks to make life easier. Another thing we've done is host our annual RampCamp virtually. In years past, we host RampCamp at a campsite and all of our LiveRamp families come out for a weekend of kid-friendly activities.
Let's close out Pride by recognizing our LGBTQ+ ERG, EQUAL! Thank you so much for all you do to spread awareness and equality throughout our company. We'd like to shout out our amazing EQUAL team members who helped make our virtual Pride celebrations a success: THANK YOU: Nick Davidson & Pavan Yalla - the founders of EQUAL - for spearheading all these initiatives, Brandon Sammut - for his continued support as EQUAL's Executive Sponsor, Matt Prussman & Elise Colbert - authors of the Digital Discoveries on Stonewall and Pronouns, Pavan Yalla and Ellen Paquet for a beautiful Humans of LiveRamp feature, Kelsey Young for designing all our beautiful graphics and digital content, Dawn Cohen for her behind the scenes support and guidance.
Here at LiveRamp we are encouraged to champion out LGBTQ+ community in the following ways: 1. To update our Slack and email signatures to include your own preferred name and pronouns. 2. When introducing new teammates or meeting new people, lead with your pronoun "Hi, I'm Brandon, my pronouns are he/him" - this creates a space where no one feels singled out for their gender identity. 3. Start a conversation about inclusivity on your own teams and in the workplace at large. We believe the little things will make a big difference. LiveRamp is also proud to support, EQUAL, our LGBTQ+ ERG! When we acknowledge and embrace gender identities, we take a step towards building a more inclusive workplace. HAPPY PRIDE!
