MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena has been recognized as a 2023 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the United States by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, this annual recognition program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™. This is the third year in a row the Medical Center in Alpena has been recognized with the honor.
MyMichigan Medical Center Midland was one of two hospitals in Michigan and 240 in the nation to receive the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry™ Performance Achievement Platinum Award. The award honors hospitals for their consistency in meeting patient care guidelines for heart attack patients. This accolade comes after the Medical Center was ranked by U.S. News & World Report in 2022-2023 as a “high performing” hospital in the areas of heart failure, heart attack, and aortic valve surgery.
Gladwin Mayor Sarah Kile presented a Certificate of Appreciation to MyMichigan Medical Center Gladwin for providing the highest quality medical care to the residents of Gladwin County. The honor comes after the Medical Center received national recognition as a Top Rural Hospital by The Leapfrog Group in December for its achievements in patient safety and quality.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has reverified and redesignated MyMichigan Medical Center Alma as a Level III Trauma Center. This achievement recognizes the Medical Center’s specialized capabilities to provide life-saving treatment for critically injured patients. The Medical Center was first designated in 2017.
A Special Care Nursery is opening January 23 at MyMichigan Medical Center Midland, increasing opportunities for babies who require extra care after birth to remain in Midland rather than transferring to other hospitals. For babies who are 32 weeks gestational age and older, the nursery will provide advanced care for conditions including transient tachypnea of the newborn, neonatal abstinence syndrome, feeding and swallowing concerns and conditions that require short term cardio-respiratory monitoring or respiratory support. The medical center will continue to facilitate transportation to a regional NICU for babies whose conditions require a higher level of care.
MyMichigan Health is hosting a recruitment fair for those interested in nursing or patient care technicians at any of its facilities. The event will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at MyMichigan Medical Centers in Alpena, Midland, Mt. Pleasant, West Branch and Sault Ste. Marie. Human resources recruiters and nursing leaders and managers will be available to offer on-the-spot interviews, interview preparation, resume review as well as answer questions or provide additional information for any of MyMichigan’s open positions. In addition, implicit bias training will be offered; this training will fulfill state licensing requirements. Registration is not needed for this event.
