A new chapter just opened in downtown Portland. The Nike Portland store officially reopened inside the historic Kress Building last week, and we marked the moment in Nike fashion: with a community run. Led by Nike athlete Galen Rupp, the event brought teammates and locals together to celebrate the store’s return and the renewed energy it brings to downtown. “This opening is so much more than a store — it’s a promise to the Portland community," says Nike Portland Head Coach, Jazsmine Quinones. "It says Nike is here to celebrate athletes of all levels and create a space where sport and culture come together. For me personally, it’s an honor to help bring that vision to life.”

Today, he is a Program Manager for the same development initiatives that helped catapult his career into Nike’s headquarters. His 20-year journey reflects the power of growth, authenticity, and people leadership. “Running my own store and joining the Academy program changed everything,” Jerome shared. These experiences helped him support his family and achieve a dream he never thought possible.

At Nike, we believe sport has the power to unite. Global Tech’s Biannual Day of Sport brought together more than 2,200 teammates from around the world — from Poland to Greater China to our own Beaverton, Ore. Nike World Headquarters — to move and connect. Because here, sport is more than performance. It’s how we live, lead and grow. It drives us, inspires us and brings us together. “Leading Global Tech Sports Day was one of the most fun and rewarding things I’ve done at Nike,” says Trae Shanks, Software Engineer III and Global Tech Brand and Sport Ambassador. “From planning brackets to jumping into dodgeball, it was amazing to see everyone come together through sport. For our 2025 interns, the summer at NIKE, Inc. ended with a sprint to the finish. That finish line was marked by the day each intern completed and presented their individual project to Nike leadership. It was the moment when months of innovation and hustle came together — and the 2025 class delivered. “The interns of this year were incredible to see — defining a new ‘gold standard’ for what it looks like to be at Nike,” says Andy Roddam, Director, Supply Chain Innovation. “Interns this year came with a critical-thinking lens to focus on big problems, all while using their unique styles to propose solutions. I was especially impressed with seeing how they brought their stories to life, using great storytelling to drive their point home.” Next summer, it could be you.
