Introducing Nike Forward, our most significant apparel innovation since Dri-FIT. The platform revolutionizes apparel creation by hacking punch-needle machines for the purpose of making premium, sustainability-minded product. Rather than follow a multistage creation cycle (spin yarn, knit, cut, sew and more), Nike Forward turns fiber directly to textile through needle-punch. Fewer steps means less energy consumption, contributing to an average of 75% reduction in the carbon footprint for this first-generation material compared to traditional knit fleece. Nike Forward material also has a lighter density than traditional knit fleece, which is crucial to reaching 75% carbon reduction, and the finished product is comprised of 70% recycled content by weight. Nike Forward highlights our culture of innovation and commitment to take action in creating a better world. Click the link to learn more.

At Nike, we're taking action to continue to create a more inclusive world by championing accessibility and disability inclusion. Yesterday marked the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), an important step forward in raising public awareness for disability inclusion. We're releasing new adaptive workouts through the Nike Training Club (NTC) app, featuring Nike Adaptive Athlete Amy Bream. We developed these workouts in partnership with adaptive training expert Dr. Theresa Larson to provide lower-body adaptations for anyone—disabled or not. For adaptive athlete and Nike Sports Marketing Manager Sarah Reinertsen, the program is an important first step for the company in modeling disability inclusion, similar to how the ADA was an important first step. 50 years ago today, Title IX passed. Among its accomplishments, the U.S. federal civil rights law helped remove barriers for girls and women at all levels of sport. “Growing up in the city of Chicago, sports have always been such a big part of my life. Playing soccer in college was one of my most rewarding experiences. It prepared me to work alongside and serve athletes as I transitioned into my career at Nike,” says Jennifer Thomas, Director of Store Experience, Marketplace Operations. Jennifer helps lead community efforts for the Women of Nike & Friends employee network, which is hosting events throughout the summer to celebrate the anniversary, continue the conversation of gender equity, and help lead the next 50 years for women in sport around the world. Come join us in creating the future! #nike #justdoit
This month, many of our Nike teammates are celebrating Pride across the U.S. and over the weekend, our Pride Network joined the Portland Pride Parade. Joined hand-in-hand were allies across our 8 NikeUNITED Employee Networks, family, friends, and executive leaders including John Donahoe, President & CEO and Heidi O'Neill, President, Consumer & Marketplace and the Pride Network’s Executive Sponsor. “The Pride Network’s theme for the month is Pride is Audacious” says Jarvis Sam (he/ him/ his), Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer, who also joined the Nike float for the Portland Pride Parade. “This affirmation recognizes and gives visibility to the LGBTQIA+ community who are living authentically and joyously, which requires boldness and an active commitment to oneself — in a word, it requires audaciousness. It's the same audacious spirit that guides us at Nike to take action to create a better world through sport.” Throughout the month, our Pride Network is also hosting both in-person and hybrid programming to celebrate pride. We are thrilled to celebrate another Pride month as a Nike community. NIKE, Inc.’s Pride Network theme for the month is Pride is Audacious. For many members of the LGBTQIA+ community, living authentically and joyously requires boldness and an active commitment to oneself — in a word, it requires audaciousness. The theme honors the contributions of so many LGBTQIA+ trailblazers and recognizes the intersectionality that makes our community voice stronger in the fight for equality. From conversations with Nike athletes on well-being to joining together as a NikeUNITED community at the Portland Pride parade, there are many opportunities for teammates to learn and celebrate throughout the month.
