Nate Smith House residents, Peabody Team Members, and JPNDC employees recently came together to enjoy a Summer Cookout! The cookout was a team effort with Boston Police Department (Official) E13 bringing their ice cream truck. Officers Sanchez and De La Rosa also helped prepare the raffles and welcome residents. The beautiful cuatro music was provided by Fabiola Mendez and FriendshipWorks. And Alejandro manned the grill like a professional! Bedford Green, a 55+ Veteran supportive housing community in Bedford, MA, recently celebrated their 5 Year Anniversary! The party was a HUGE success with all residents and staff receiving Bedford Green "Keep Rolling On" 5 Year Anniversary shirts, a delicious meal catered by Roche Brothers, music performed by resident DJ Joey J, and a raffle of excellent items donated by various individuals! It was a wonderful celebration of how much Bedford Green has accomplished as a community in the past 5 years, especially in the past year and a half of a community for formerly homeless or at risk for being homeless Veterans to live comfortably, safely, and as contently as possible. Last week, the Lowell Fire Department conducted their "Annual Fire Safety Presentation" for the Rogers Hall and Mazur Park residents. Residents were able to engage in group conversations as well as one-on-one chats with the Firefighters. The residents were educated on electrical safety, cooking safety and overall fire prevention. Important reminders, such as the evacuation plan at each building, were reviewed. The residents at each building will receive the Lowell Fire Departments “Get Out Bag”, which consists of a File of Life, water, snacks, first aid items, hygiene items, a flashlight, a whistle, a poncho, a foil emergency blanket, a hat and mittens.
