The double burden of #malnutrition is the coexistence of overnutrition (overweight and obesity) alongside undernutrition (stunting and wasting). This new four paper series published by The Lancet and led by World Health Organization explores how this coexistence is affecting low-income and middle-income countries and calls for double-duty interventions that simultaneously address more than one dimension of malnutrition. Rachel Nugent, our VP of noncommunicable diseases, and Brian Hutchinson, our public health analyst, published a paper in the series on the economic costs and benefits of double-duty interventions. Data is critical to enhancing energy access and project implementation. We are excited we got to partner with Duke University’s Energy Access Project today to discuss the intersection of data, research and analytics in relation to our implementation of energy projects. Three RTI staff members participated on the panel discussions at the Data for Development: Using Data Analytics to Accelerate Energy Access event, including RTI’s Amer Barghouth, Senior Research Energy Specialist. “Cost is one of the largest barriers to collecting impact data on a project. There is a huge opportunity for universities and implementing partners to work together to get this data,” said Barghouth.
