Painting Mexico SSOE red! Our León and Chihuahua offices celebrated SSOE’s 75th anniversary with their own parties a couple weeks ago. León employees donned their favorite Western wear and square danced the night away. The bash included dinner and drinks, a speech from Erick Kuri Gallardo leads our Mexico operations, party games, and a party animal, El Tóxica—the mechanical bull that made the event into a real rodeo. Chihuahua employees took advantage of the remaining summer nights and threw a fun-filled pool party for the whole family. #SSOEcelebrates75 #SSOEmexico #chooseSSOE

All that jazz! A couple weekends ago, we had a lovely afternoon attending UNCF Portland’s Each One Teach One “Jazz in the Garden” luncheon. Dressed in our Sunday best, we had the opportunity to mingle, listen to member experiences, and advocate for educational equity—with live jazz as the soundtrack. Together, we fundraised for UNCF’s mission to increase educational opportunities for minority students in our community and expand the educated workforce pipeline in our nation. #SSOEportland #SSOEcares

Rankings are in! This year, SSOE earned the #2 Manufacturing Design Firm ranking—jumping three spots from #5 in 2022. This ranking represents a wide array of SSOE’s markets and clients, but this year’s climb can be attributed to the firm’s rapidly expanding portfolio in the lithium-ion battery and EV supply chain. In addition to securing top rankings in key markets, three of SSOE’s projects were highlighted in ENR’s Sourcebook—Ford’s Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center in Tennessee, featured as the cover story; KORE Power’s KOREPlex Battery Cell Production Facility in Arizona; and Panasonic’s Lithium-Ion Battery Manufacturing Campus in Kansas. #PressRelease
Construction on the $125 million expansion for YKK AP Inc.'s residential products manufacturing facility is one step closer to completion! The final beam was put in place at the state-of-the-art factory in Macon, Georgia last month. SSOE was in attendance at the topping-out ceremony along with construction partner JE Dunn Construction—plus Georgia’s finest and fastest: YKK AP’s 250 employees and NASCAR driver Akinori Ogata—to commemorate the milestone. The 400,000 SF plant will combine operations to streamline just-in-time processes, create 100 additional jobs, and serve as a model plant for the company’s future North American manufacturing plants. #SSOEsoutheast
Celebrating our 75th in Toledo! We recently held a celebration for SSOE employees and retirees at our world headquarters ahead of our August 8th anniversary. The event kicked off with building tours to show off our newly completed $1 million renovation. Then, we welcomed the families of our four founders—Al Samborn, Jack Steketee, Burrie Otis, and John Evans—enjoying stories of the past and our visions for the future. From there, we had live music, a cornhole tournament, and HandleBar Toledo pedal-powered pub tours. No one left hungry with plenty of local eats like Shorty’s BBQ, Swanky Scoops ice cream, and Schmucker’s pies, a Toledo mainstay that also celebrated its 75th anniversary this year. #SSOEcelebrates75
