Hats off to our client ProMedica who was recently awarded the 2020 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary’s Opportunity and Empowerment Award for their Ebeid Neighborhood Promise. SSOE has been the architect and engineer of record for the renovation of all four floors of the Ebeid Institute for Population Health that brought social, financial, and food services to an otherwise underserved area in Toledo’s UpTown neighborhood. ProMedica’s Ebeid Neighborhood Promise is a catalytic, multifaceted initiative developed to address social determinants of health and create a model for neighborhood revitalization that is well deserving of this exciting recognition.
A case study we recently partnered with Kanbanize on was recently featured in Industry Today, with SSOE’s Joshua Zimmerman, BIM2Fab® Steel Department Manager, and Jourdan Schermerhorn, Senior Project Manager, quoted within. This article showcases how our adoption of the Kanban Method has helped SSOE move away from siloed work. At a company level, applying Kanbanize—an online Portfolio Kanban software for Lean management—has helped us create an infrastructure for cross-divisional project management and collaboration.
In Food Engineering Magazine’s annual survey, SSOE’s Jens Ebert and Tim Michalski join fellow AEC experts to weigh in on what’s trending and why. With the pandemic testing our industry and its supply chains, this article explores both pre-COVID data and post-COVID impacts.
Designing a battery manufacturing plant requires a unique combination of knowledge, which our technical experts learned on the ground floor of a major electric vehicle manufacturing plant inclusive of complete battery assembly packs. Our niche skill set comes together in a way that translates seamlessly into designing these types of facilities so that your operations are recharged and able to keep up with the growing demand for electric vehicles. We have relevant, industry-leading proficiency, longevity, and both domestic and international experience that goes back decades and substantiates our ever-expanding geographical breadth.
SSOE’s engineers and architects are systematically familiar with the special criteria that battery manufacturing facilities require. We’ve successfully completed more than 100 projects in the last 5 years involving cleanrooms of all scales and recently helped GM achieve nearly 0% humidity in one of their battery lab dry rooms. We also know speed is critical and have the knowledge to determine the most effective strategy for your specific operations, beginning with a fully collaborative project team starting with upfront planning and programming continuing with design through construction.
A statement of support for racial equality and fairness from Vince DiPofi, PE, President and CEO of SSOE Group:
Last week, SSOE’s Catherine Myers and Camille Scott-Burris delivered 500 KN95 masks to the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center on behalf of our Portland office. The nonprofit organization—headquartered just 5 miles from our office— focuses on providing medical care to migrant and seasonal farmworker communities who are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. Virginia Garcia serves 52,000 individuals every year in Washington and Yamhill counties and is committed to increasing access to testing for those with barriers to care. #SSOEportland #InThisTogether
When it comes to our manufacturing expertise, batteries included. SSOE's experience in the automotive and advanced technology markets combined with chemical process, cleanroom, and facilities expertise brings a unique perspective to designing lithium ion battery manufacturing facilities. From hazardous material handling and cleanroom-type manufacturing environments to spatial needs for assembly and production, we understand the necessary considerations for both wet and dry cell battery design.
SSOE featured as a use case in this Industry Today article that dives into how Kanban helps organizations boost productivity and improve workflow.
