We want to thank District 64, led by Annette Bright and her team of Operation Specialists, along with Store Director, Geoff Baker, and his team at Safeway #1615 for a wonderful act of compassion and teamwork. In the wake of the tragic shooting that took place on March 25th in Boulder, CO, and at the request of the Salvation Army, area associates prepared, packaged and loaded hundreds of sandwiches and breakfast items to support the Boulder Emergency Operations Center, Incident Command Center and Family Assistance Center for surviving family members. Associates at surrounding Safeway stores (2910, 2911 and 0920) also joined store 1615 to help provide meals and coordinate distribution. Over six days, associates rearranged their schedules and worked many hours to prepare more than 1600 meals, including breakfast and lunch, for local law enforcement officers on the day of Officer Eric Talley’s funeral.

Congratulations to Codi Arnold, Store Director at Safeway #1762 in Woodland, WA, for being named Employee of the Year by the Woodland Chamber of Commerce! Codi is incredibly involved with his community, volunteering with his team at the local food bank, fundraising for many hyper-local causes, partnering on various projects with the City of Woodland and supporting his local library in its fundraising efforts annually. In early 2020, Codi linked a local paper manufacturer with Safeway, securing toilet paper for stores in the Portland division at a time when there was a paper shortage. Codi also worked hard to keep his store open during snow and ice storms to ensure customers had adequate access to much needed supplies. You are a shining example of ownership and compassion in action, Codi. Congratulations on receiving such a tremendous honor! You deserve it and we are grateful to be on your team!

To celebrate Black History Month, Sharon Hall, Albertsons Companies Vice President, Strategic Sourcing - Center of Excellence & Corporate and Shared Services, highlights what this month means to her: "It's about remembering and honoring the talented, courageous, bold pioneers, trailblazers, and heroes who overcame obstacles and persevered in tough times; many who used their gifts and talents to promote equality and human rights, and those who lost their lives in the fight, who simply wanted to be free; and many who contributed to the modernization of this country, yet their labor not acknowledged or credited to them; I am grateful for their sacrifices, tenacity, and strength which paved the way to my current and future possibilities as a Black American."
