Today we will be closing our stores and corporate offices for two hours, dedicating the time to training on racial bias and education. As a retailer, we need to move beyond diversity and towards racial equity. Deborah Yeh, CMO of Sephora, reminds us that, “The ethos of the brand has always been access for everyone in an inclusive environment.”
We are honored and humbled to be awarded by the Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE), an organization that aims to advance employment equity for people with disabilities, as this year’s winner for our hiring practices at our distribution centers! At Sephora we believe in living with courage and standing fearlessly together to celebrate our differences. In 2018, we set out to employ 30% of our Mississippi distribution center workforce with people with disabilities and we are proud to say that we have surpassed that goal and will continue to work towards a more diverse community.
Congratulations to Wanda Ma, Sr. VP, Technology at Sephora, for being named one of the SF Business Times Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business for 2020. Her commitment to promoting women in tech and building a more inclusive space for all are just some of the amazing things she is championing. Thank you Wanda for living our Sephora values and helping build a community where all are welcomed. We Belong to Something Beautiful!
We’re joining the #15PercentPledge posed by Aurora James to dedicate 15% of our shelf space to Black-owned businesses. We recognize how important it is to represent Black businesses and communities, and we must do better. So, we’re starting today.
