To help kick off National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Arc Worldwide hosted an opening for an exhibition of photos taken by participants of Photography for All, which is part of our First Jobs program. “Seeing Possibilities” highlights the beautiful photos and unique perspectives of the program’s four participants who are all visually impaired. “I do not see my vision impairment as a weakness, it helps me see the world in a different perspective than other people,” said featured photographer Muzaffar. After sustaining a car accident that left her quadriplegic, Michelle Henton pursued her educational goals. She first obtained an Associate of Science, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree, and ultimately received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University, earning high honors throughout her entire academic career. Upon graduation, she received job counseling and placement assistance through The Chicago Lighthouse’s Employment Services Program. She now works as a Guidance Counselor at COMPSYCH, which is the world’s largest provider of employee assistance programs. She attended our recent Scholarship Awards Reception as a Keynote Speaker and wowed the audience with her valuable advice based on her own experiences of successfully pursuing a graduate degree with a disability.
